Passion to help you be and feel the best of you.

VALERIA MALLETT
VALERIA MALLETTRegistered Dietitian, Certified Diabetes Educator.
I’m Valeria Mallett, Registered & Licensed Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator. I love food (and some wine), science, innovation, and humans. My favorite food? All. I don’t discriminate. Well, I am not crazy about cilantro. Do you like cilantro?
Here at Valeria Mallett Nutrition, you will enter a judgment-free zone. I accept you the way you are and I’m ready to help you make changes on your own terms. Life can be busy, complicated, and stressful at times. And our nutrition might suffer in the midst of competing demands.
Just like life, nutrition is not always black and white. Most people need help from a qualified professional to decipher how to best fuel their tank. I have devoted my career to learning the science of nutrition and the psychology of eating, which create the foundation for a sustainable lifestyle. I believe that YOU have the right to change your health F.O.R.E.V.E.R. And I am here to support you through this journey.

My Philosophy and Approach:
I believe in evidence-based science, sound reasoning, and creative ideas. My individualized care starts with curiosity about your history, goals, and learned body messages. Rather than approaching your lifestyle from a place of judgment, let’s celebrate your strengths and overcome challenges. Are your blood sugars too high? Let’s discuss what we can do about it! Fighting weight gain despite your efforts to exercise and eat healthily? I look forward to working with you to break down those barriers and reach your goals! Most importantly, I want to empower you, through education and support, to develop life-long skills to care for your body.
Why a Dietitian and Diabetes Specialist?
My passion for nutrition and career choice was a result of my own struggles to achieve optimal health –both physically and mentally. I had many health issues and still manage some to this day. I know what it feels to be lost. After working with thousands of patients over the years, I have learned that we are more similar to each other than we think. Whether you want to prevent or manage diabetes, decrease diabetes medication or insulin, lose/gain weight, have more energy, improve the way your family eats, or decrease your chances of developing diseases –don’t be shy, I CAN help you!

About Me:
I am a wife, business owner, and mother of two precious kids. Activities that bring me joy and allow me to keep my sanity include cooking, traveling, learning, working out, trying new foods, and discussing ways in which we can make the world a better place. Let’s meet at my office in downtown Portland or we can schedule a virtual appointment. My nutrition practice is flexible and inclusive to meet the needs of your busy schedule. Additionally, I speak English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Why a Dietitian?

Between what you hear on TV and read in the news, eating right can seem like a real challenge. But it doesn’t have to be. A registered dietitian, or RD, or registered dietitian nutritionist, or RDN, will partner with you to develop a safe and realistic eating plan that you can stick with for the long haul. To guide and motivate you, an RD or RDN will use creative and out-of-the-box strategies to help with meal planning, grocery shopping and mindful eating.

Anyone can call themselves a nutritionist.  But, only an RD or RDN has completed multiple layers of education and training established by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics. All RDs or RDNs must:

  • Get a four-year degree which includes a specially designed, accredited nutrition curriculum.

  • Complete an extensive supervised program of practice at a health care facility, foodservice organization or community agency.

  • Pass a rigorous registration exam.

Our Values
